Just wanted to report in that I also got my 2690 w/ SpectraView II 2 days ago. Mine is a 4B revision monitor and as far as I can tell, it is completely silent -- even while adjusting the brightness levels from 0 to 100%. I haven't had a chance to really go over the monitor in detail and play with every option (haven't even calibrated it yet), but so far I'm very happy with it. I did find one fault with the monitor though, it looks like I have one pixel that does not have a functional blue and red sub-pixel.

It's located in the lower right corner. Because of it's location I don't find this to be an issue at all. I didn't even notice it until I started playing with an LCD testing app I d/l.

Granted, for the money I'd like perfection, but 1 pixel out of over 2.3 million isn't something I'm going to pull my hair out for especially for something I wouldn't notice during normal use. I think somone had asked a question similar to this before.

This is from the software developer here in regards to the 2690. Images will always look oversaturated on non-color managed applications because there will be no gamut mapping/compression of the image done.

So the colors in the image will go directly to the screen without going through the Color Management System. Images that were intended for an sRGB display, will be expanded to the very large gamut of the LCD2690 and appear super-saturated. There is no way around this. If you are calibrating using Optix Pro (or anything other than spectraview), then you want to adjust the white point of the screen as close to your target white point using the monitor’s color controls. This will reduce any corrections that are done in the 8 but LUTs on the video card.

If you are using a 6500K target, then set the monitor to the 6500K preset, or use the RGB Gain controls to manually adjust as close to that as possible. Click to expand. May I ask where you bought it? I ordered two of them weeks ago,and bought them at NCIX,to find out a few minutes ago via email (I sent in a trouble ticket at 4 am) that there supplier has them in stock in Toronto but get this, NCIX will not be getting them in stock until the 23rd of April, then, after that they will be shipped out!!!! NCIX is the largest online reseller on the net in Canada. Others have ordered them according to the threads on thier forum, and others want to but want to wait until they are in stock, which they are when doing a stock check, but their csr agents say they will sit there for near two weeks!!!!! I got my order this morning.

Or I thought I did.The purolator guy comes up to my door, with a box that is 12x12x14 inches. It had the sata burner, and a skiff of cdr's I ordered but no 24' LCD's boxes.

Sorry for going off topic but I am a little pissed and was expecting them a week+ ago. I realize this has nothing to do with you Trav, but after the Nec press release today on Engadget about them shipping on the 23rd in Europoe and east Asia.it makes me wonder if they are being held for a worldwide launch. Click to expand. This is pretty interesting stuff dude! Which panel is used in this NEC LCD2690, Samsung or LG Philips maybe? I look at the specs and most likely we are dealing here with a (A)S-IPS LGPhilips panel. Is this rather big pixelpics not irritating meaning can you still see the raster or not?

Looking at some specs in German right now. Display: Type H-IPS A-TW Pol. (Horizontal IPS with advanced True wide polarizer) 1920x1200 (same as my Eizo 24' so bigger pixelpic) Hor.178-vert.178 400cd/m2 800:1 8ms (G2G), 16ms (W2B & B2W) 16,77 Mil Colors TIP: Use Eizo Monitor Test to adjust your TFT manual. Travbomb Can you please tell me a bit more about the fix for noisy displays. I am baffled that some people seem to get barely discernible hums, at least two of us have easily audible hums - I can hear mine from 60cms even with the radio on two feet to my left - and others have no sound at all coming from their displays. My display has been to NEC UK and been fixed but the noise is still there.
